Bishop Robert Barron Comes to Edinburgh!
Sep 6 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

The internationally renowned Catholic Evangelist, Bishop Robert Barron, will be coming to Edinburgh this September 6th (7:30-9:30pm in the Usher Hall) to speak to the people of the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh on the topic of ‘Proclaiming Christ in Our Culture’.  Bishop Barron is founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries ( and is well known for his ‘Catholicism’ series of DVDs on the Catholic faith.  He is undoubtedly one of the greatest Catholic speakers of our day and it should be a fantastic event for anyone who loves the faith and wants to grow in the knowledge and love of God.  We will be organising a bus from our parishes to attend this event.  Please sign up on the sheets at the back of our churches if you are interested.  We need to know numbers asap as demand will be high for this event.  Cost: £10 (£6 concession). The bus will probably leave around 5:30pm travelling via Pittenweem.

Tickets are now sold out for this event. Thank you to all those who have handed in payment for their tickets.  If you are still to pay, could you please do so asap as the payment deadline has now passed.

Please note, if you put your name down but are now unable to attend, please make the parish office aware, as we have keen parishioners on our reserve list.

PPC Meeting and AGM

Meeting for parishioners of Christ the King

As discussed at our PPC AGM, Fr Galbraith would like to have an meeting with our parishioners from the parish of Christ the King to discuss the way forward in the light of the closure of CTK church.  The proposed date is this Thursday 20 September at 7.30pm in CTK parish room.

Joint Parish Ceilidh

Our popular annual joint parish ceilidh will take place at Greyfriars’ School hall on Friday 28 September.  We will have a great, live ceilidh band and a buffet. BYOB. Tickets are on sale at our Sunday Masses and are priced at £10 per adult, £5 child, £25 family ticket.

First Saturday Devotions
Oct 6 @ 9:30 am

Devotions will begin with Mass in St James’ at 9.30 am followed by Confessions, Rosary and Meditation.

“The Role of the Laity in the Church Today”
Oct 6 @ 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

There will be a conference on the Role of the Laity at St Thomas of Aquin’s High School in Edinburgh on Saturday 6 October.  The conference is free and is open to all.  It will begin at 11am, finishing at 4pm and the Guest Speaker is Helen Alvaré, Professor of Law at George Mason University School of Law in the United States and a consultor for the Pontifical Council of the Laity in Rome.

Safeguarding level 1 Training Session
Oct 31 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

There will be a Safeguarding level 1 Training Session for all parish volunteers who need to have their training updated on Wednesday 31 October, 7.30-9.00pm, in St. Pius X Church Hall, Kirkcaldy.  Any parish volunteer needing to attend this training session please book a place by telephoning the Archdiocesan Safeguard Office on (0131) 623 8943.

Archdiocesan Youth Day
Nov 3 @ 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Archdiocesan Youth Day at Gillis Centre, Edinburgh for young people aged 10-15. The theme will be “The Saints”. There will be two morning sessions led by Archbishop Cushley, followed by an afternoon quiz. If you would like your child to attend, please sign up at the back of the church. Attendees should take a packed lunch; soft drinks provided.

Eust Neuk Shared Memories Afternoon Tea
Nov 11 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

On Sunday 11 November (2pm-5pm), there will be an afternoon tea at Christ the King, Pittenween to which all are most welcome.  Please do come along and share your memories of the church and parish life.  Any photographs you have of Christ the King would be greatly appreciated.  They can either be put through the church letterbox, or given to Eileen Wallace or Aileen Brown by Friday 26 October.  Please remember to put your name on the back so that they can be returned.
