The enrolment for the new guild will take place at the Altar Servers’ Day on Saturday 21 September at the Gillis Centre, Edinburgh (11am-3pm), at which altar servers will be presented with their medals. To be enrolled in the scheme, altar servers are asked to: 1) serve at 10 Sunday Masses; 2) attend a practice/training session in their parish; 3) write a short reflection on altar serving. Enrolment forms are available at the back of the church.
The 11am Mass at St James’ will be celebrated for the Greyfriars’ P1 pupils and their parents. The school’s Parent Council will be serving teas & coffees in the hall after Mass.
The next First Saturday of 2019 falls on 5 October. First Saturday Devotions will commence with Mass at St James’ at 9.30am, followed by Confessions, Rosary and Meditation. Please join us in fulfilling the prayer request on Our Lady of Fatima in reparation for sins and for the salvation of sinners.
There will be an Archdiocesan Day for Children’ Liturgy leaders at the Gillis Centre, Edinburgh on Saturday 5 October at 11am (registration at 10.30am) concluding with Mass at 3pm. A light lunch will be laid on. The event will provide training, guidance and support for volunteers who run parish Children’s Liturgy groups. Prayers for the Holy Souls will take place in Anstruther Cemetery on Wednesday 9 October, meeting at the cemetery gates at 9.30am.
The next Parish Ladies’ Group meeting and pot-luck lunch will be on Thursday 10 October, 12.30pm, St James’ church hall. All ladies in the parish welcome.
