Joint Parish Pilgrimage – Holy Land 10-19 July 2018
This will be fabulous, spiritual trip of a lifetime to the places associated with Our Blessed Lord’s birth, ministry, death and resurrection. We will be visiting Nazareth, sailing on the sea of Galilee, have the opportunity to renew your wedding vows at Cana, ascend Mount Tabor, renew our baptismal vows at the river Jordan, float in the Dead Sea, find room at the Inn in Bethlehem(!), pray at the Mount of Olives and participate in the Way of the Cross in Jerusalem, and many other things besides. Holy Mass and prayers will be celebrated each day at these holy sites. Led by Fr Galbraith & Fr Łukasz.
Fr Galbraith will be attending this conference for young Catholics aged 15-30. It is a five day conference based in Woldingham School (Surrey) which provides an excellent balance of social, spiritual and catechetical activities. There is also plenty of recreational time. There Mass and morning/evening prayer each day, time for confessions and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The theme of the conference this year is: ‘The Human Vocation to Love’ and guest speakers include Bishop Philip Egan and Bishop John Keenan. If you are interested in going, please speak to Fr Galbraith and pick up a flier at the back of the church.
The internationally renowned Catholic Evangelist, Bishop Robert Barron, will be coming to Edinburgh this September 6th (7:30-9:30pm in the Usher Hall) to speak to the people of the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh on the topic of ‘Proclaiming Christ in Our Culture’. Bishop Barron is founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries (https://www.wordonfire.org/) and is well known for his ‘Catholicism’ series of DVDs on the Catholic faith. He is undoubtedly one of the greatest Catholic speakers of our day and it should be a fantastic event for anyone who loves the faith and wants to grow in the knowledge and love of God. We will be organising a bus from our parishes to attend this event. Please sign up on the sheets at the back of our churches if you are interested. We need to know numbers asap as demand will be high for this event. Cost: £10 (£6 concession). The bus will probably leave around 5:30pm travelling via Pittenweem.
Tickets are now sold out for this event. Thank you to all those who have handed in payment for their tickets. If you are still to pay, could you please do so asap as the payment deadline has now passed.
Please note, if you put your name down but are now unable to attend, please make the parish office aware, as we have keen parishioners on our reserve list.
The next PPC Meeting (and the AGM) will take place on Thursday, 13 September, 7pm, at St James’ hall. All welcome.
