Brass Cleaning

Children’s Teas and Coffees

On Sunday 16 December some of the children at St James’ will be serving the teas & coffees, along with festive treats, after 11am Mass.  All money raised will be sent to SCIAF.  Please do pop in and lend your support.

St Vincent de Paul Society Christmas Afternoon

Faith Winter Session
Dec 27 – Dec 29 all-day

This year’s Faith Winter Session will take place on 27-29 December at Stonyhurst College, Lancashire.  It is a conference for young Catholics (16-35 years of age) with a blend of catechetical talks, prayer and social activities.  Fr Galbraith will be attending. First Saturday Devotions

The first First Saturday of 2019 falls on 5 January. First Saturday devotions will commence with Holy Mass in St. James’ Church at 9.30am, followed by Confessions, Rosary, and Meditation.

Enrolment at Greyfriars Primary School
Jan 14 – Jan 18 all-day

Enrolment will take place at Greyfriars RC Primary School during the week commencing Monday 14 January 2019. Please call the school office to make an appointment with the Headteacher. The deadline for enrolment is Friday 25 January.

Children who reach the age of 5 on or before 19 August 2019 must normally start school in August 2019.  Children who reach the age of 5 after 19 August 2019, but on or before 29 February 2020, may also start school in August 2019, though parents are not obliged to send their children to school until the first entry date after their fifth birthday.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

The Churches Together in Britain and Ireland’s 2019 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is taking place this week (18-25 January).  This year’s theme is ‘Only Justice’ and is based around Deuteronomy 16:18-20, ‘Justice and only justice, you shall pursue…’.  To mark the event, prayers will be held at St James’ on Friday 25 January at 7.30pm.  All welcome.
