This is a summer conference for young Catholics aged 16-30 which takes place at Woldingham School, Surrey, July 29 – August 2. It has an excellent balance of social, spiritual and catechetical activities. Why not have a look and come along if interested. Fr Galbraith will be attending this conference. First Saturday Devotions will commence with Mass at St James’ at 9.30am, followed by Confessions, Rosary and Meditation. Please join us in fulfilling the prayer request on Our Lady of Fatima in reparation for sins and for the salvation of sinners.
The draw is made in the parish hall after the 11am Mass.
A new pro-life play entitled Crowned with Glory and Honour will be performed at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival from 6-10 August at the Carrubbers Chrstian Centre on the Royal Mile. Prayers for the Holy Souls will take place in Pittenweem Cemetery on Wednesday 28 August, meeting at the cemetery gates at 10am.
The Scottish Catholic Youth Service are organising a national youth pilgrimage to St Andrews on Saturday 31 August 2019 (16-30 year olds). It will be led by Archbishop Cushley and will include Holy Mass in the grounds of the cathedral at 3.00pm. Please see the poster at the back of the church for further details if you wish to sign up. We are looking for a few volunteer parishioners to help with the hospitality arrangements for this, especially as Fr Galbraith has a wedding that day in St Salvator’s. If you are able to help with arrivals, hospitality etc, please let us know by email or note to the parish office.
On 1 September 2018 Archbishop Cushley launched the Guild of St Cuthbert, a new group for altar servers in the Archdiocese. All altar servers are welcome to join. The enrolment for the new guild will take place at the Altar Servers’ Day on Saturday 21 September at the Gillis Centre, Edinburgh (11am-3pm), at which altar servers will be presented with their medals. To be enrolled in the scheme, altar servers are asked to:
1) serve at 10 Sunday Masses; 2) attend a practice/training session in their parish; 3) write a short reflection on altar serving. Please note: enrolment forms (ie record of serving at Mass and essay) need to be handed in to the parish office by Thursday 29 August at the latest in order that the Archdiocese can prepare the medals and allocate prizes for the best essays. Fr Galbraith hopes to provide transportation.
