Marriages

Marriage

“This is my commandment: ‘Love one another, as I have loved you.’”        John 15: 12

Marriage is a beautiful sacrament by which a man and a woman join themselves for life to one another in an unbreakable bond of love. As you plan for marriage, in the first instance you should contact your local parish to discuss the requirements for your marriage in the Catholic Church. You must do this at least six months before you intend to get married.

Couples who live outside of the Parish, but who would like to get married in St. Andrews, are welcome to do so depending upon availability of the Church.

If you live outside the Parish – please read the document “Getting married in St. Andrews” (link below) and then, once you have contacted your local parish priest and given notice of your intention to marry, you should contact the Parish Office here in St. James' to ask about dates and availability.

Costs

There is no charge to receive the Sacraments. However, for those who are not parishioners of St. Andrews or Crail, we ask that, to offset the running costs of the parish, which is borne by its parishioners, a non-refundable deposit of £200 is made at the time of booking the Church.

It is also customary to give an offering for the Priest or Deacon who celebrates the wedding, the suggested figure is £100.

Organist: If you would like the Parish Organist to play at your wedding, please e- mail her directly: stjamesmusicprogramme@gmail.com
